Police Detain 14 Goats in Osun

The Nigeria Police Force in Osun State monday intercepted a vehicle loaded with 14 goats in Ede, the headquarters of Ede South Local Government Area of the state, and detained all the goats while the driver of the vehicle evaded arrest.
Confirming the arrest of the goats to THISDAY on the phone, the state police public relations officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, said the goats were arrested and detained at 1 am yesterday.
A police source said that a team of policemen patrolling the Sekona/Nigerian Army Regiment construction company highway had tried to intercept a speeding red-coloured Mitsubishi car conveying the goats to interrogate the driver but he refused to stop. She stressed that the goats would remain in police custody until the owner(s) showed up, adding that investigation had begun into the driver who evaded arrest.

It was gathered that the police team led by one Inspector Ajayi Sunday chased the driver from Sekona junction to Cemetry Area in Edun-Abon where the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped before the police could catch up with him.
The police team then drove the vehicle with the goats to the station where the animals remain in their custody.
