How I Will Choose My Ministers – Buhari

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed the ministerial lists in circulation on the social media as fake because his ministers will not emerge the way the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) picked members of its Federal Executive Council (FEC) in the last 16 years.
Buhari made this known in an exclusive interview he granted senior editors of Daily Trust at his country home in Daura, Katsina State on Tuesday.
As the May 29 handover date draws closer, there have been speculations about those who would make the next government’s ministerial list. Most of the persons who featured on the speculative list were picked from across the 36 states and the six geopolitical zones, to rhyme with the PDP’s tradition of appointing a minimum of one minister from each state of the federation and six others from the geopolitical zones.

Why Domestic Airlines Are Not Profiting from Huge Nigerian Market

                                                                      Aviation analyst Chris Aligbe
Nigeria has the largest air traffic market in West Africa, which is put at about eight million per annum, but the country’s airlines do not profit from this huge passenger movement, aviation industry experts have said.
According to the experts the three factors that have been adduced to this  are that Nigerian airlines score very low in on-time performance; which means incessant flights delays and cancellations.
In the domestic market the airlines could get away with such inefficiency because passengers do not have other choices but in the international market, Nigerian passengers would always prefer reliable international airlines.
This, experts said, explains why Nigerian airlines record low load factor despite the huge travelling public that travel out and return to the country every day.

Chisos!! Tougher times ahead, says Okonjo-Iweala

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Thursday said the country would this month begin to feel the impact of the falling global oil prices, which started in June.
Consequently, she said the country needed to brace for tougher times ahead by reviewing its expenditures and building economic buffers through budgets that would be based on modest oil prices.
According to her, sound macroeconomic management is crucial to Nigeria at this time, while also emphasising the need to plug all revenue leakages.
The minister spoke in Lagos at the Africa Financial Summit organised by the Institute of International Finance and Access Bank Plc.
“We have not seen the impact of the falling oil prices in Nigeria; it will start this month. We have to drive the non-oil revenue base to be able to weather the storm that is coming,” Okonjo-Iweala said.
She, however, said Nigeria was not alone in the coming economic storm, pointing out that a large number of African countries that relied on commodity export as the mainstay of their economies would also be affected by the global fall in the prices of such commodities.
