I Was Moved To Tears Last Time Saraki, Ekweremadu Went To Court – Wabara



A former President of the Senate, Senator Adolphus Wabara has disclosed that he was moved to tears when he watched the last time one of his successors, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Deputy
Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu reported to the court for the alleged forgery of Senate Rules trial instituted against them and two others by the federal government.

Wabara, a ranking member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, stated this yesterday when a delegation of the board led by its Chairman, Senator Walid Jibril, paid a solidarity visit to the PDP Senate Caucus at the National Assembly Complex.

Days after his acclaimed meeting with the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), Sports and Youth Development Minister, Mr. Solomon Dalung, appears to have run into trouble as President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of circumstances surrounding the parley.

“Mr. President has ordered that the minister provides an answer as to whether or not he actually met with Avengers, and if truly he did, he wants to know from him who authorised the meeting,” a presidential aide told our correspondent.

This development came, as it emerged that one Jude Tabai, the son of a retired justice of the Supreme Court, facilitated Dalung’s trip to Oporoza.

Impeachment Of Yari: DSS Arrests Legislators



The speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji, his deputy, Muhammad Abubakar Gumi, the majority leader, Isah Abdulmumini and the chief whip, Abdullahi Dansadau have been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) and detained in Abuja over their alleged plan to impeach Governor Abdulaziz Yari.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the remaining 20 members of the Assembly have fled to Kaduna, where they issued a statement, last night, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in what they described as abuse of office by Governor Yari.

Adeniyi Oyebade Indicted Of Shi'ite Killing By Kaduna Judicial Panel Of Inquiry



The General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army’s 1st Division, Adeniyi Oyebade, a major general, authorized last December’s military operation that massacred at least 347 members of the Shi’a Muslim group in Zaria, and should be prosecuted, a judicial commission of inquiry into the killings, has said in its final report.
The commission of inquiry, set up by the Kaduna State government, indicted Mr. Oyebade and other senior army officers for the attack, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report.
The panel’s report was submitted to Gov. Nasir el-Rufai on Friday, but its details are yet to be made public.

Buhari Under Fire Over Arms Panel’s Exemption Of Dambazau In Latest Probe Report



President Buhari has come under attack over reports suggesting his government may have deliberately doctored the latest report of the presidential arms audit panel.

The reports have cast doubt on the integrity of an administration that repeatedly defined honour and transparency in public service as part of its cardinal objectives, critics said.

Mr. Buhari set up the investigative panel three months after he assumed office to help uncover fraudulent practices that might have occurred in the procurement of arms for the military between 2007 and 2015.

Ikpeazu Tax Clearance Is Not Fake! - Abia IRS Says



Abia State Internal Revenue Service has reacted to the alleged fake tax clearance certificate the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, reportedly presented during the state's PDP governorship primaries in 2014.

According to a statement released by the state's internal revenue service this morning, the tax certificates of Ikpeazu are not fake and were duly issued by them.

There is tension in the state currently after a High court in Abuja ordered Ikpeazu to vacate his office after his opponent in the state's PDP overnorship

Buhari Orders The Probe Of The "New" Arms Deal



President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly given anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) orders to arrest everyone indicted in arms procurement probe. According to a report by Punch, the presidential panel set up to probe arms procurement between 2007 and 2015 submitted another report to the President, making it the third report so far submitted to the President by the committee.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that the President received the report during the week (last week) and he has since approved it,” an unnamed source was quoted. With the approval, EFCC had been empowered to go after those indicted in the fresh report. Another informed source revealed that; “The fraud uncovered in this fresh report is massive.

FG, Militants’ Ceasefire In Niger Delta Collapses



THE temporary cessation of hostilities in the Niger Delta region broke down, weekend, as Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, blew up five oil and gas installations following its displeasure with the manner the Federal Government was managing and breaching the peace process.

A source disclosed that as far as Niger Delta Avengers was concerned, the Federal Government was not serious about peace in the region, as it had said nothing concrete about its planned dialogue with stakeholders and was breaching the warning by the militant group not to repair damaged pipelines while the window for negotiations was open.

EFCC Probes Illegal Transfer Of N216.7m From CBN To Fake Account

THE Economic and Fi­nancial and Crimes Com­mission (EFCC) has com­menced investigation into how a syndicate succeeded in transferring the sum of N216.66 million from the Central Bank of Nige­ria (CBN) account of the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) into an il­legal account opened in the name of a company using the Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos branch of a new gen­eration bank.




EFCC is not only prob­ing the illegal transfer, the anti graft agency would also look into the role of the Police High Command in handling the petition earlier sent to it by the real owner of the Ibadan based company, Citadel Concepts Limited, whose company name was used to open the illegal account.

Forgery: FG May Drop Charges Against Saraki, Others



There were indications weekend that the federal government may drop the forgery charges slammed against Senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, former Clerk of National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa and one other following the ruling of Justice Gabriel Kolawole that it is abuse of court process.

The case was brought against them by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN.

The court faulted the charge for being filed during the pendency of a civil action instituted to challenge the propriety of the police report on the alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Rule 2015

We Will Rather Die Than Allow Ogah’s Inauguration As Governor – PDP





The Abia chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it will resist any attempt to inaugurate, Sampson Ogah, as the new governor of the state.

“We are ready for them, we are ready to die,” the party said, adding, “If they do it, then they are inviting anarchy and confusion in the state.

The party made the resolution and declaration at the end of its emergency meeting in Umuahia on Thursday.
The state Chairman of the party, Johnson Onuigbo, accompanied by members of the executive committee, said the party got wind of a plan to flood the state with military personnel.
