Rapper Consequence claims he wrote Jay Z's hit song, Encore


Rapper Consequence, who has been described as one of the most prolific ghost writers in hip hop, and known to have written many tracks for Kanye, is now claiming he co-wrote Jay Z’s hit song, Encore. Below is how HipHopDX reported it...
While Consequence considers it taboo to “out” who he’s written for, he does reveal he had a hand in writing the chorus on Jay-Z’s 2003 The Black Album cut “Encore.”

“One record, in particular, I was happy about to be a part of was Jay-Z’s ‘Encore,’” Cons says. “When me and Kanye kinda was on the phone and we actually kinda came up with the chorus back and forth.”

Ex Ondo state Attorney General, Eyitayo Jegede emerges PDP's governorship flagbearer for the state election


Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede, has emerged the PDP candidate for the Ondo State governorship election. Mikel Obi to donate his own share of $200,000 gift from Japanese surgeon to his teammates


After Japanese multi millionaire surgeon Katsuya Takasu kept to his promise by donating $390,000 to Nigeria's team that won Bronze at Rio 2016, reports now have it that Mikel Obi has agreed to donate part of his own share to his U-23 teammates at the just concluded Rio 2016.

Some earlier reports had revealed that the NFF wanted to take some share of the gift from the surgeon, but the NFF over the weekend dismissed such reports in a series of tweets saying they only wanted to ensure due process.

Police in Sokoto state this weekend busted a gay marriage between two men in the state. Acting on a tipoff, the police stormed the venue of the wedding. The intending gay couple absconded while the owner of the house where the wedding was to take place was arrested.

Sheriff, Kashamu Want El-Rufai-Amaechi Ticket By Killing PDP - NYM



An umbrella body of youths in the North, Northern Youths Movement (NYM), has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would remain in crisis as long as Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Ogun State Senator, Buruji Kashamu remained in the party.
The NYM in a statement on Sunday signed by its Chairman, Mallam Ishaya Jato, alleged that both Sheriff and Kashamu were agents of the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, and that they were working to achieve El-Rufai and Amaechi’s presidential and vice presidential ambition in 2019.

The youths said Buruji Kashamu was dancing to the tune of El-Rufai and Amaechi because the duo had promised to save him from being extradited to the United States of America to face trial for alleged drug trafficking.

Labour leaders and other stakeholders have condemned the move by Imo, Benue and Sokoto to reduce the working hours and days in the states.
They said, in separate interviews, that the development was illegal, unconstitutional and a fundamental breach of the International Labour Organisation Convention.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue had directed civil servants to use Fridays for farming, while Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo pushed for a law that provides for three days for work and two days for farming.
The Nigeria Labour Congress President, Ayuba Wabba, said that “the policy is against all know labour laws and international treaties of the International Labour Organisation.
He said, “It is something that we have already rejected and condemned, you cannot force people to go into farming.
“Even, if you will to do that, it must be through a process of consultation because these workers are not slaves.

The suspect, 32-year-old Chidinma Favour Okorie, a mother of five, who is pregnant is alleged to have committed the felonious act in Idoma village, Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State. Fake Miracle Syndicate Arrested In Enugu, Says Pastor Hired Them




Members of a syndicate, which specialised in confirming fake prophecies for pastors, have been arrested by the police in Enugu State.

Our correspondent gathered that the group also faked healings for some men of God, who contracted and paid them for their services.

The suspected fraudsters were identified as Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Anambra State; Mary Kuku from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State; Joy Oluwakemi from Ojo, Lagos State; Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze, Anambra State; and Peter Uchechi from Ebonyi State.

Mastermind Of Abakaliki Jail Break, Awaiting Trial Since 2007- Prisons Boss




The mastermind of last Thursday’s attempted jailbreak at the Abakaliki Prisons in Ebonyi state has been at the facility since 2007 awaiting his trial, Vanguard has learned.

Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service NPS, Ja’afaru Ahmed announced this in a statement issued Sunday morning in Abuja.

Prisons authorities did not immediately give further details about the ring-leader including his name, offences and whether he was among the inmates killed in the crossfire.

Built in 1946 with an installed capacity of 387 inmates, the Abakaliki Prisons had 920 inmates as at Thursday. Of the figure, “811 are awaiting trial prisoners leaving just 109 as convicted inmates. The ring leader had in fact, spent about nine years awaiting trial,” he said.

Man Bathes Married Lover With Acid In Oyo (graphic Pics)



The long arm of the law has caught up with 43-year old Yisau Adeleke, nine months after he went into hiding, as he has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for bathing his lover with acid after he discovered that she was a married woman, contrary to her claim of being a widow.

Adeleke, who allegedly committed the offence on November 25, 2015, was arrested on August 7 at about 7:00a.m. at a radio station in Ibadan where he had gone to respond to his lover’s complaint on how he turned her into a monster through acid bath.

Crime Reports learnt that the victim, Mrs Morufa Ajoke Odesanya, reported at Oluyole police station on Novermber 25, 2015 that Adeleke bathed her with acid at about 9:05p.m after she responded to his call to meet him at a certain spot in her neighbourhood.

A minor disagreement between families and friends of the couple ensued when the bride alleged that her village people were not been served enough foods and drinks despite the fact that she contributed the lion share of the wedding expenses.

As the man in charge of drinks was trying to give explanations and at the same time urging the raging bride to keep it cool, it led to a hot argument between them and Nkechi the bride, fully dressed in her wedding atire, picked up bottles and started throwing them at the man.

Dangote/black Rhino Group To Construct $10bn Power Plants In Kano



Blackstone and Dangote Industries today in Kano announced a commitment by Black Rhino, a portfolio company of Blackstone Energy Partners to jointly invest up to $10bn in energy infrastructure projects in the state and across south east Nigeria, with particular emphasis on renewable energy, transmission and pipeline infrastructure.

The chairman of Black Rhino Group and Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, explained that the group and Dangote Industries would contribute $5bn each for the construction of a coal power plant and a solar energy project in Kano, as well as gas pipeline project from Akwa Ibon to South west Nigeria, where Dangote industries are concentrated.

Nnamdi Kanu Writes British Government



Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has petitioned the British High Commission against his continuous trial by the federal government.

Kanu was arrested by officials of the Department of State Securities (DSS) in October, 2015. A situation which generated mass protest in the southeastern part of Nigeria. He is yet to be released from indetention.

The letter written by a member of Kanu’s family reads:

Boko Haram ambush Immigration officials on UN assignment in Borno, scores of civilians feared dead


Dozens of Boko Haram terrorists and civilians have been reportedly killed after militants ambushed Immigration officials on United Nations assignments along Maiduguri - Dikwa road in central Borno state.

The incident occurred at Gwajibo village in Dikwa Local Government, while convoy of vehicles carrying Nigeria Immigration officials and some civilians was returning from Gamboru Ngala to Maiduguri on Monday at 2:30pm.
3 Immigration officials were also wounded and are currently receiving treatment at emergency unit of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

14 feard dead in failed jailbreak attempt in Ebonyi state


One prison officer and at least 13 prison inmates are feared to have died in the failed jailbreak attempt at Abakaliki prison in Ebonyi state yesterday August 18th. The inmates at about 9am began protesting poor condition of living, complaining that the prison officers give them small quantity of food to eat. During the protest, they used dangerous weapons on prison officials.
A team of mobile police officers and soldiers had to be drafted to the prison to restore law and order. Injured inmates and officers are currently receiving medical attention at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA.

Police Arrest Kidnappers Of Sani Bello, Recover N250k (picture)



The police have arrested three herdsmen, who allegedly abducted a member of the House of Representatives, Sani Bello, and collected N10m ransom.

The names of the suspects were given as Haruna Adamu, 25; Shuaibu Adamu, 18; and Abubakar Saidu, 30.

We learnt that the suspects had on August 2, abducted Bello and taken him hostage for three days before he was released.

The police said the gang was responsible for kidnapping and other crimes on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway and its environs.

Team Nigeria Kits Arrive RIO 3 Days To End Of Olympics Games


Three days to the end of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Team Nigeria took delivery of the much awaited kits after most of the athletes had concluded their events with some already back to their bases.

A top official of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria who disclosed this to Sports Vanguard Thursday, said the kits which arrived Wednesday night would no longer serve any purpose because “most of the athletes have left after concluding their events”.

He added that “I have never experienced this in my years in sports. Money meant for the Games was held tightly by ministry officials and they were just releasing money piecemeal. We had to buy kits on our own while some athletes competed in their personal kits.”

Ogbonnaya Onu Rejects Umahi's Car Gift




The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has rejected the Toyota SUV given to him by the Ebonyi State Government.
The minister, in a letter to Governor Dave Umahi, said he rejected the gift because the laws of the state excluded him from persons eligible to collect such gifts.
The letter was exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES.
Quoting copiously from the constitution, Mr. Onu called the governor’s attention to the relevant sections of the constitution and how the state House of Assembly abused its powers to technically edge him out of his deserved pension, being a former governor of Abia State.
He wrote, “It is important that I draw your attention to provision of Section 124(5) of the 1999 constitution as amended which states that:

Drug Scarcity Hits Aso Rock Clinic Despite N3.87 Billion Budget

FIRS Seals Peter Obi's Company, Other Companies In Lagos, Kano



The Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) on Tuesday stepped up its tax enforcement duties, shutting companies in Kano, Lagos and Onitsha for outstanding tax liabilities.

In Onitsha, the warehouse of Next International Company was sealed. The company is owned by former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi.

The company has tax liabilities of N20.4million. The breakdown showed that the company has failed to pay Company Income Tax, Withholding Tax and Education Tax since 2006.

In Kano, the FIRS enforcement team, led by Umar Garba, sealed Sani Brothers Transport Company Limited, Triumph Nigeria Limited, Multi System Nigeria Limited and NorthWest Cable

Nigerians To Pay 9% Tax On Calls, SMS, MMS, Data, Others


Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, on CST bill which seeks to levy nine per cent on subscribers for the use of the various communication services, Shittu said the outcome of deliberations on the bill would form the basis of his advice to the President.

The services include voice call, SMS, MMS, Data usage from telecommunication service providers, internet service providers and Pay TV Stations.

He noted that introduction of new taxes without harmonising existing ones would put pressure on the country’s tax system thereby making it unattractive to investors.

Court Re-affirms Sheriff’s Sack As PDP Chairman




Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has re-affirmed the sack of Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


The court, presided over by Justice Nwamaka Ogbonnaya, reaffirmed the sack on the ground that the judgment of Justice Valentine Ashi, which nullified his appointment on June 29 has not been set aside or vacated and is therefore subsisting.

The court further held that all actions taken by Sen Sherif are null, void and of no effect since the earlier order of Justice Ashi remains binding

Annular eclipse to occur all over Nigeria on September 1st


An annular eclipse will occur in all parts of the country with different degrees of totality on Thursday September 1st . This is according to a statement released by the Head, Media and Corporate Communications of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Felix Ale yesterday August 16th.

An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun, hence, the sun appears as a very bright ring or annulus surrounding the dark disk of the moon.

Lady shares heartbreaking story of how her 3 year old sister bled to death after she was raped in Lagos (Must read)


Facebook user, Blessing Nwachukwu-Frank shared this heartbreaking story of her younger sister, Grace Chikere Nwosu who bled to death after she was raped by a 22 year old man in their community in Mafoluku-Oshodiin Lagos state sometime in 1994. Jobs:Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Recruitment Of 2016 To Start Soon


The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Usman, has stated that the authority will immediately commence the recruitment of younger professionals into the service in view of the ageing workforce.

Usman made the disclosure at a news conference to round off her ongoing tour of Calabar port, which ended on Friday.

According to her, there is a lot of skills and knowledge that need to be transfered and we should be able to transfer knowledge and skills.

FG Signs MoU on Warri-Abuja Rail Project


The Federal Government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) on the completion of Warri-Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Baro-Abuja railway line.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government while Chen Xiao Xing, Vice President of CRCC, signed for the company in Abuja.

Amaechi said that the central railway line was the backbone of rail transportation in Nigeria, adding that the agreement was for its completion and extension to Warri town, port and refinery.

A day old baby girl in critical condition was abandoned near a transformer opposite Phase Three Junction on the Kubwa expressway in Abuja on Wednesday August 10th. She has been transferred to the Kubwa General Hospital where she has been placed on life support. The little girl was discovered by residents of the community and was immediately taken to the police station from where she was transferred to the hospital where doctors are working to ensure she is in good health.  See the disturbing photo of the baby after the cut.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called on security agencies in the country not to treat the rumours that Boko Haram terrorists are recruiting members from Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the Northeast with levity but to urgently investigate the issue to unravel those behind the menace, if any.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, Saraki said it has become necessary for the nation's intelligence outfits to take such rumors seriously.

South Africa overtakes Nigeria as Africa’s largest economy


Following the consistent crash of the Naira against the dollar, Nigeria's economy has lost its place as the largest economy in Africa to South Africa. This is according to a new report by Bloomberg and the IMF.

FRSC to enforce use of speed limit devices on all commercial vehicles from October 1st


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will on October 1st commence the enforcement of use of speed limiters on all commercial vehicles nationwide. Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi announced this during a meeting held at the FRSC National Headquarters Abuja yesterday August 10th with stakeholders from relevant government agencies and road transport unions in attendance.

El-rufai Attacks CBN, Says Bank Destroying Jobs




The Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, on Wednesday decried the Central Bank’s prevailing fiscal regime, saying the bank’s 14 per cent monetary policy rate has led to massive job losses in the country.

Mr. El-Rufai said the CBN risked losing its power to set lending rates for commercial banks unless it immediately addressed the situation, adding that only unscrupulous elements could successfully operate under the current fiscal policy atmosphere.

Niger-Delta Greenland Justice Mandate Blows Up Pipe Line In Delta


A new militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, which threatened to blow up oil installations in the upland of the Niger Delta region, on Wednesday, made good its threat.

The group reportedly blew up a major trunk line operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company in Isoko, which feeds Eriemu Manifold.

NDGJM claimed responsibility for the attack saying it was part of the group’s demolition of oil facilities tagged ‘Operation Zero.’

Graduate dies as students poured him water in jubilation of final year completion.



Tragedy struck  as a fresh graduate of the Imo State University took his last breathe as students poured him water in jubilation of final year completion. What seem to be jubilation turned into a gathering of sorrow when the victim was running away from a number of students who pursued after him to pour dirty water on him. In that quest to dodge the water being poured on him, he fell into a soakaway pit and got drowned. The dirty water from the pit however is partially passing a light
